I’ve always enjoyed being active until I tore my ACL playing hockey and required a knee reconstruction and 12 months rehabilitation. I wanted to learn about the mechanics of the body so I could get back to living my active life and took the opportunity to study health and fitness – way out of my comfort zone at the age of 46 and having spent my working life in banking and bookkeeping!

After completing my Certificate III in Fitness I worked for the Shire of Esperance @ the Leisure Centre for over 5 years in various roles, one being the project officer for the development of the Esperance Physical Activity Plan. During my research I discovered that despite Esperance having two large gyms, a spin and yoga studio, over 100 sporting clubs, many cycleways with views of our famous coastline for cycling and walking but our town still struggled to meet the national guidelines for physical activity and our health was suffering accordingly.

Find Balance was born in 2015 out of a desire to provide a small, friendly personalised facility where you would be greeted by name and where you would feel welcome and supported regardless of age or fitness level. A safe community to connect with others and build friendships. I started out in the community hall of a local church.

In 2015 I struggled as I became an empty nester! My 3 beautiful kids had left home, Kelsey and Tahneal had moved to Perth for uni and Jerome had moved to Kalgoorlie for basketball. I decided to fill the hole in my life by expanding my health and wellness knowledge. I studied nutrition and personal training. In 2016 I lost Mum to stroke, an extremely sad time. Having lost Dad to cancer in 2010, holistic health became an even bigger focus so I became a yogafit instructor.

In 2018 I moved into my own studio. At Find Balance my aim is to support and encourage you to strengthen your mind and body through functional movement, nourishing foods and deep breathing. Together we can support each other to be our healthiest version.
